Bible and Interpretation "In my view" piece

I have joined several scholars who are submitting regular op-ed style pieces to the Bible and Interpretation site. The new section of their site is called In My View and so far features pieces by Philip Davies, Robert Cargill, Thomas Thompson and me. My piece, published this morning, is called On Scholarly Conduct.

Thanks for your thoughts there - I agree that it makes such a difference when scholars are kind and welcoming. I have found Anthony Thiselton to be this sort of man too - perhaps much like Stanton: Scholarly rigorous, but friendly, constructive, and humble.

Thanks for publishing your thoughts on Graham Stanton and his genuine kindness toward others. In this connection, it seems to me that those would object to your piece and equate civility with hypocrisy are in effect slandering Stanton's memory.

I agree completely with your article and I have much admiration for scholars who put the kind of conduct you are advocating into practice.
