I am not suggesting there is evidence for "Q" as a single written Greek document. Shudder. Simple hypotheses are unlikely to reflect historical reality.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5759844.post-21270940520535897152007-11-06T22:09:00.000-05:002007-11-06T22:09:00.000-05:00There are some things in the verbatim agreement be...There are some things in the verbatim agreement between Matt and Luke, not in Mark, which might suggest that Matt at least had other (even more interestingly, historical) sources. For example, in the case of Beelzebul, Matt 12:27 and Luke 11:19 have Jesus say "by whom do your sons cast them out?". In Luke this infers the sons of the people, but Matthew had earlier referred to his Pharisees, and there is no historical evidence of Pharisees being involved in exorcisms. Perhaps Matthew was editing a source as well as using Mark.

Fleddermann is a figure in my crazier nightmares.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5759844.post-8759771492971154642007-11-06T18:15:00.000-05:002007-11-06T18:15:00.000-05:00In this connection, the following quote from Harry...In this connection, the following quote from Harry T. Fleddermann, Mark and Q (BETL 122; Leuven, 1995) at p. 17, may prove interesting: "Although the two problems are distinct, in practice it has often been difficult to distinguish them because both the minor agreements and the overlap texts show Matthean and Lucan agreement against Mark."Stephen C.
