I mentioned recently that I had made available my 2001 book The Synoptic Problem: A Way Through the Maze, with the help of colleagues at Duke University Libraries, over at the internet archive. You can read online, download as a PDF and so on.
With thanks to one of my readers, it is now also available for free for your kindle -- just go to the archive.org page for the links.
A brief primer on how to get it from my pc to my kindle? Anyone help with this?
ReplyDeleteI don't have a kindle myself so I can't help that much. I tried to upload the book to Amazon's kindle store but they refuse to let you upload free books, and I refuse to charge their minimum $1.99 for it.
ReplyDeleteI hear, though, that one can connect the kindle to the PC via a USB cable and then drag and drop.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any tips on this.
I have the kindle app on my macbook. I went to archive.org and got the kindle version, saved it to my harddrive, double clicked and it appeared in my kindle list.
ReplyDeleteWorks with Amazon, too. When it is running Amazon thinks you have a kindle attached.

I downloaded the kindle version to my computer, then plugged in my kindle to my computer, and dragged the download into my "documents" folder on the kindle. Works great, and an awesome book.
ReplyDeleteGreat -- many thanks for those tips.
ReplyDeleteJust curious, but since the preface in the book mentions it, shouldn't the http://www.markgoodacre.org/maze/ page include a link to the free Kindle edition? It seems to list every other way to get a hold of the book, so why not this one? Any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Reed. Yes, this is the next stage -- to get the companion site updated! Cheers, Mark

ReplyDeleteP.S.: Thanks for allowing me the use of the NT Pod in my Messianic Secret research paper (I got your permission a few months ago). You had a great influence on my format and understanding of the topic. Keep up the magnificent work!
ReplyDeleteExcellent; thank you. High time there was a new episode.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that Mark!
