  1. Richard, excellent review of this book, which follows in the footsteps of their earlier films/books bandied about as science whereas it should be labeled at best as ‘ historical fiction.
As for your remarks here, concerning P.D. James who recently published a sequel to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, in which all the main characters of the latter re-appear, Nikos Kazantzakis published a similar work entitled The Odyssey: a Modern Sequel (1938) which begins when the hero Odysseus, returns from his years of voyaging. As you state here quite correctly, this literary technique is well known, both in antiquity as well as today, they glossed over it for obvious reasons.
